YOU MUST MAIL YOUR REGISTRATION FORM TO PSI FOR PRE-APPROVAL.
• The Home Improvement Commission offers free licensing workshops for future and current applicants. These workshops are voluntary for anyone who wants more information about the application process. The workshops are held on the third Thursday of every even month and on the third Tuesday of every odd month from 2pm-3pm. For more information, please visit, www.dllr.state.md.us or call MHIC at 410-230-6309. Registration is not required.
• Important Notice - Maryland Senate Bill 285 Eliminates Subcontractor Licensing Category. As a result of the passage of Senate Bill 285, the Maryland Home Improvement Commission will eliminate the Subcontractor License category as of July 1, 2016. All application, examination, and renewal requirements will be eliminated.
• As of July 1, 2016, home improvement subcontractors may work without a license when performing home improvements for an MHIC licensed contractor in the State of Maryland. The law continues to provide that only MHIC licensed contractors may enter into contracts with homeowners to perform home improvement work.
• The Commission encourages all subcontractors that are eligible to become contractors to apply for the Maryland Home Improvement Commission Contractor License. MHIC Contractor License application link: http://www.dllr.state.md.us/license/mhic/mhicapply.shtml.
• August 11, 2020, Salesperson candidates must be pre-approved by PSI. See the Candidate Information Bulletin for instructions.
